tbc asked me to write some words about the gig in the gängeviertel, so
here they are..
when i see or hear the recording of the gig, i can feel the freedom i felt
that moment and i had at other venues as well. to make sound with
different machines and effects and particularly with my voice satisfies
and it s like kind of the opposite of a short circuit in life. no end, not
visible but kind of destructures which might become structured
throughout modulation, even if it s not intended. the sound which came
out from a guitar which was modulated by distortions, bit crushers or
others was an action and on this action another one followed without
much thinking. that s the freedom i mean. when i am screaming or
shouting i m just pucking out the hate, the love, anger and sorrow, rage
mostly and in many times i feel a backshot to dreams or movies running
down my head.
another point is, i like improvisation. you ll never get the exact moment
back. of course a set could be prepared but it varries always because
the mood is one important factor to me. although not just in improvised
sound, but also in strict arrangements there is definitly a larger
breathing room in improvised sound i think.
i am not thinking much about what am im doing next. the present
moment is so fragile, it depends everything on it. which fader or button
am i am going to press. i love to play with feedbacks and their volumes,
EQ s so it might vary from harder to softer sound, as it was at the
gängeviertel venue.
so i can t say much more than, i don t know for sure what i m doing
there. and there is no big need for it to know. it s a trigger and im just
letting it out.
by the way, it was great to play with to live and shave in L.A. i met the
guys before, had a nice talk, so that was a good influence as well. quite
familiar feeling i had.
