"The curtain finally draws on the 20th Anniversary year of Solid Steel. We have been choosing vintage shows from the archive all year and now it's your turn. We asked you to pick your favourite mix from the last 20 years and your reason for choosing it. We start with Coldcut meets the Orb from '91 which received lots of votes, however Simon Cockram is the winner of the Serato SL1 package for his choice of DJ Food & DK's version of "Now, listen". In short he said "Now Listen' got me into collecting records, properly. I bought albums before, and the odd single too, but it was this mix which made me want to want to hunt things down, to have a rummage around in the back of a charity shop or a dusty grotto-like second-hand record shop for one track on an album, or an obscure 7... So DK & Food, I salute you. My bank balance on the other hand doesn't". A live version of the mix from '04 is in this weeks show, while Strictly Kev's first mix from '93 and Steinski's mix of the year from 2006 complete the second hour. Thank you for listening over the last 20 years. Now watch this space for 2009, and get ready for a new era of Solid Steel!"

"This week (5th December) Hexstatic don the DJ jacket and serve up a retrospective mix for their album release "Video's, Remixes, Rarities" tracks off the racks include Bass Invader, Timber, Distorted Minds and more bangers! Into hour 2 for our last dip into the Solid Steel vaults, we turn back to September 2001 with DJ Food & DK. Following the release of their critically acclaimed mix CD "Now listen" earlier that year, listeners got to hear the "Directors Cut" mix which featured some early ideas for the CD, along with tracks that didn't make the final version. Jeru, Cinematic Orchestra and Herbie Hancock are all in there from the CD, but licensing issues meant that Lorez Alexandria, Vangelis and Pharoah Monch missed the boat.
